It is a small, unspoilt fishing village with a colourful history of boat building and smuggling. which still retains its traditional character it has a selection of quality pubs, restaurants and shops. Wander in the evening around the moon lit harbour. Or walk down to Portmellon with its 15th century pub directly on the beach for a drink and good meal, an un spoilt cornish pub and watch the world go by. Fowey within a few miles and a ferry to and from the harbour in summer makes it a pleasent experience. Pentewan sands a large beach near by, Fowey, Charlestown, Gorran Haven to name a few places to visit, also within a couple of miles is the famous Gardens of Heligan or Tregrehan Gardens.
